The app that I chose to review is the Pinterest. This is an app I am familiar with and use regularly for different ideas. The purpose of this app is to allow users to find different interests they may have and give them different ideas. These ideas can vary from home improvement, recipes, health and fitness idea, cars, and even birthday party ideas, etc. You can visually see so many different ideas and visit links for more information based off the ideas presented. When you first set up the app it asks you to select 5 or more topics that interest you.
Once you start using the app it evolves around things that you save or look at. You can create different boards and then create sections within each board to help and organize your saved items called pins. For example, you can have a food or recipe board then within that board break it down further by sections. When you are in a board you created it also gives you the option to look at more ideas that are like the pins within that board. You can also create notes within that board so that you can reference them later.
A newer feature that has been added to Pinterest is the watch section where you can now watch short videos that may spark your interest. This section is similar to the app Tiktok and how that app operates. They also have something called Pinterest TV where longer DIY and explanation type of videos are posted. You can search within Pinterest to find specific ideas on any topic you would like.
Additionally, you can create pins for others to see. If you do something like a DIY project, you can create a pin to show others what you did. There is a way to add friends and send them pin like a direct message or even collaborate on a board you create.
I do love the app but there are things that could be improved to make the experience even better. The actual navigation is super easy to utilize. Creating the boards and the sections are simple but when time comes to move pins around are even delete pins it gets tricky. I would suggest have a click and drag option to reorganize pins. Another improvement I would make is the select multiple option so that you can select multiple pins at one time to delete them. Right now, there is this option however it makes the pins smaller and difficult to see the pictures. If it could be done in the main view it would be much easier to know what you are trying to delete. Also, in your boards that you have saved there isn’t a search option with makes it hard to find things you may have saved in the past. Overall, this is a great and user-friendly app to use and updates continue to roll out which provides the users with a better version each time. I’d say the improvements I want would just make the app that much nicer however as the app stands currently, I still love to use this app.
